In the early days of the Russian-Ukrainian war, the country’s second largest city became a warzone. Caught in the middle was Feldman Ecopark, a veritable Noah’s Ark with more than 5000 animals in the line of fire. Checkpoint Zoo is the incredible story of a band of zookeepers and volunteers who braved the shelling to care for the animals, until it became clear that the impossible had to be done: evacuate the entire park and deliver them to safety.
