Featured Artist
This month our featured artist, Ms. Donna Reeder, is exhibiting the challenging art of watercolors. Her vibrant choice of colors and beautiful shadings has already been a hit in Midtown. Ms. Reeder sold four of her pieces within the first week of the exhibit, and is expected to do quite well during the remainder of the month. We would like to welcome Ms. Reeder to the space and we look forward to seeing all of you perusing her paintings.
Donna Reeder
Biography
The artist, Ms. Reeder, was born in Harrisburg where she resided until the age of seventeen. Moving to Hummelstown in 1959, she started a lifetime career in art by attending summer classes to learn oil painting, which she did during the seventies and eighties.
After having an initial success in selling them, her career was interrupted with raising two children. Twenty years later, she resumed her artistic calling by learning a more difficult media, watercolor.
Enjoying the challenge & visual effect, Reeder has continued painting in water color ever since. While her favorite subject is the Flapper era, her versatility is reflected in portrayals of animals, people and nature as well.
Her work has been exhibited at the Hershey Historical Society, Hummelstown Arts and Crafts Festival, the Rutherford House in Harrisburg and Country Meadows Communities, Hershey.
A member of Hummelstown and Hershey Historical Societies, and the Zion Lutheran Church, Reeder has won several awards for gardening, and is a professional seamstress.
